For Experienced Climbers – Disappointment Cleaver Route
Day 1: Orientation, Gear Check, and Ascent to Camp Muir
Morning Meet-Up:
Your team gathers at the Paradise parking area (5,400ft) in Mount Rainier National Park. Guides conduct a brief orientation, gear check, and Q&A session to address final questions.Park Check-In:
Complete mandatory registration with National Park Service climbing rangers.Climb to Camp Muir (10,188ft):
Begin the 4–6 hour hike to Camp Muir, the basecamp for summit attempts. Along the way, guides review crampon techniques, ice axe use, and rope-team travel to prepare for summit day.Overnight at Camp Muir:
Sleep in expedition tents at Camp Muir. Guides provide a pre-summit briefing, weather update, and tips for an alpine start.
Day 2: Summit Push and Return to Paradise
Alpine Start (1:00–2:00 AM):
Depart Camp Muir under headlamp light, roping up for glacier travel. Traverse the Disappointment Cleaver Route, navigating crevasses and steep snow slopes.Summit (14,411ft):
Reach the crater rim by mid-morning, sign the summit logbook, and celebrate at the highest point in Washington State.Descent to Paradise:
Return to Camp Muir, break down gear, and continue descending to the Paradise parking lot (5–8 hours total). Conclude the program by late afternoon.
